The result is an uneven twist length that causes extra wear, and in severe cases the rope will twist, leaving only a portion of the rope's strength behind. Seriously kinked wire rope should be discarded immediately. The local reduction of the wire rope diameter is often related to the fracture of the rope core. It should be carefully examined whether there is such deformation at the end of the rope. Steel wire rope with severely reduced rope diameter should be scrapped.
The wire rope is partly crushed because of mechanical accident. If it is serious, the wire rope should be scrapped. Bending is the angular deformation of wire rope caused by outside influence. The deformed wire rope should be discarded immediately. The wire rope shall be scrapped when it has been subjected to special heat and has a recognizable colour on its surface.
